DAWN CARTER serves as President and Founder of DONLYN INC, a Hollywood based television and film Production Company. Carter worked as a Production Associate in the NBC Universal Diversity Development Training Program and worked on the television series ‘COMMUNITY’ and “HEROES”. Carter has served as a Production Executive for the 20th Century Fox Diversity Management Development Department working on such films as “MR. & MRS. SMITH,” “FIRST DAUGHTER,” “DATE MOVIE” and “EPIC MOVIE.” Carter handled post accounting on all New Regency Productions. Prior to moving to 20th Century, Carter served as a Field Producer for the FOX/TV cable show “Track Side Live,” which features 24-hour horse racing. Former Fox Pictures, and NBC producer Dawn Carter is the Consulting Producer on “SUPREMACY” starring Danny Glover.
In 2011, Carter created, directed, and produced the short film, “A REAL BLACK HORROR” in 2010 under the banner of her production company, DONLYN PRODUCTIONS, Inc.
Carter created and sold a television pilot to BET, called “LOVE BROOKLYN.” She also made her directorial debut in 2009 with the short film “MY GENIE,” alongside Alton Glass. Dawn produced the independent feature, “CONTRADICTIONS OF THE HEART,” with veteran TV writer, Walter Bennett and served as an Associate Producer on Ruby Red’s project, “THE FUNNY SPOT,” starring Tony Rock. She also co produced, ‘SOULMATE’, an award-winning documentary produced by Andrea Wiley (The Parkers, Hair Show).
DONLYN PRODUCTIONS has also produced several Public Service Announcements for The Magic Johnson Foundation’s annual fundraising event “Midsummer Night’s Magic,” and the National PSA “African American Jockeys,” for Black History Month. With the FOX Diversity department, Carter created “The Fox Journey to Excellence Mentoring Program,” an on-going monthly education program, which helps foster academic, social and personal development for economically disadvantaged and high-risk students by introducing them to leaders in various fields of interest.
